Bringing your floor back to life...
When I get asked for advice on which is the best varnish to use on a floor I always advise that a water based varnish be used. They are just as hard wearing as oil based varnishes, it dries within a couple of hours and it has a very low odour compared to an oil based varnish.
We now use a product called Traffic HD which is a very hard wearing varnish for commercial or home use. A tech sheet can be viewed here.
If you opt to stain your floor first before varnishing then a piece of wood will be stained first to make sure it is the colour that you want. Occasionally it is necessary to mix 2 stains together to get the right colour. Thinners can also be added to the stain to get a lighter colour.
